KKKR1253 Termodinamik Kejuruteraan Kimia I<br />

Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics I<br />

Kursus ini bertujuan membina kefahaman menyeluruh tentang asas dan<br />

aplikasi dalam termodinamik klasik. Ia bermula dengan perbincangan<br />

terhadap konsep keadaan, sifat zat tulen, proses pertukaran fasa, rajah<br />

dan jadual sifat. Konsep haba, kerja dan bentuk tenaga lain, serta prinsip<br />

hukum pertama termodinamik untuk sistem tertutup akan diperkenalkan.<br />

Prinsip yang sama digunakan untuk analisa sistem terbuka bagi<br />

peranti-peranti kejuruteraan seperti turbin, pemampat, pam dan penukar<br />

haba. Pengenalan terhadap kitaran Carnot dan konsep ketakbolehbalikan<br />

dalam proses turut dibincangkan. Hukum kedua termodinamik dan<br />

konsep entropi seterusnya akan digunakan untuk menganalisis kecekapan<br />

terma bagi enjin haba dan pekali prestasi bagi pam haba dan refrigerator<br />

dalam kitaran Carnot, Rankine dan refrigerasi.<br />

The aim of this course is to develop the whole understandings on<br />

fundamentals and applications of classical thermodynamics. The course<br />

begins with the concepts of state, pure properties, phase change and<br />

property diagrams and tables. The concepts of heat, work and other forms<br />

of energy, and the first law of thermodynamics for closed systems will be<br />

introduced. With the same principle, it will be extended to open system<br />

devices, such as turbines, compressors, pumps and heat exchangers.<br />

Introduction to the Carnot cycle and the concept of irreversibility in<br />

processes will also be included. In addition, the second law of thermodynamics<br />

and the concept of entropy will be applied to analyse thermal efficiency<br />

of heat engines and the coefficient of performance for heat pumps and<br />

refrigerators in Carnot, Rankine and refrigeration cycles.<br />
