LGB | EXTRA-CURRICULAR LIFE 2016-2017 PRIMARY SCHOOL PRIMARY SCHOOL MUSIC PRIMARY SCHOOL | MUSIC The Music School-LGB offers a high level of musical instruction to children and adults. Our diverse Music School faculty are established performers and pedagogues who have received their musical education from the top conservatories and universities in Europe, North America, South America and Asia. PRIVATE LESSONS Weekly private lessons are available from 30 minutes to 1 hour in length. Students are encouraged to perform regularly in the end of term Music School concerts. All teachers are experienced in training students to successfully complete ABRSM exams at all levels and giving support to IB music students. Keyboards Classical Piano, Jazz Piano Music School lessons begin September 20, 2016. Replacement lessons are given between February 6 - 10 and June 19 - 30, 2017. Individual Classes Enrolment for individual classes in the Music School is a full year commitment. Course fees are invoiced 3 times a year (November, February and May). Theory classes begin October 3, 2016 and finish May 31, 2017. String Ensembles Levels 1 and 2 begin September 20, 2016 and end June 16, 2017. Ecolint students who are not registered for private lessons through the Music School may participate in ABRSM Theory Group Tutoring and String Ensembles if space is available for a fee of 150 CHF per term, placement in the appropriate level and class will be made after the student is registered. LGB | EXTRA-CURRICULAR LIFE 2016-2017 PRIMARY SCHOOL Registration An online inscription form must be submitted to the Music School Coordinator, Mary Eileen Marie, before any students, new or returning, may begin lessons. The Music School will do its best to honour requests for lessons, teachers, days and times listed on the inscription form. Once a lesson time and teacher has been accepted by the parents, the Terms and Conditions of the inscription form are applied. General Conditions The financial commitment is for the full year, i.e. September through June. Only students in year 13 have the option to stop courses at the end of Term 1 or 2 and will be charged at a reduced rate based on their registration. No reduction in fees will be made by the school in case of cancellation or non-respect of the contract, or in case of any absences, withdrawal or dismissal of the student. No lessons are given during school vacations. In the event that a student has to withdraw from their private music lessons for reasons other than force majeure the registration will be cancelled only once another student is available to take the vacated place. Lessons missed by students cannot be replaced and will be billed. In case of a student absence due to a conflict between the scheduled lesson and the scheduling of a mandatory school curricular activity or exam, the missed lesson will be replaced. A written request be sent to the Coordinator 2 weeks in advance of the missed lesson to be considered an Excused Student Absence. In case of a teacher’s absence, a replacement lesson will be proposed. However, once a replacement lesson time has been agreed to, the Terms and Conditions of the inscription form are applied. Refusal of proposed replacement lessons will not result in reimbursement. Lessons missed due to a teacher’s absence or to an Excused Student Absence where replacement lessons were not able to be given will result in a credit for these lessons. Credits for all lessons are applied in Term 3. ENSEMBLE COURSES Full course descriptions are available on the school website. Open to all LGB students with the required playing level: Rock/Jazz Band, String Ensemble 2 and Community Chorus Ensembles Sing and Strum Percussion Dalcroze Wind Ensemble Weekend Clinics Theory Beginning Music Theory ABRSM Group Theory Tutoring An online registration must be processed before any students, new or returning, may participate in Ensemble Classes. Once a registration has been confirmed, the Terms and Conditions of the inscription form are applied. Confirmation of class time for Sing and Strum is based on student enrolment and level. Students already enrolled in private instrumental lessons through the Music School are enrolled automatically and is included in the cost of tuition. Classes are held from September 20, 2016 – June 16, 2017. PRIMARY SCHOOL | MUSIC The Music School does not supply instruments. All students should have an instrument available for regular practice. To maintain children in a safe environment at school, students require adult supervision at all times. Primary students in After School Care will be escorted to and from their private lessons. All Music School lessons are held on the school premises. ABRSM Theory Group Tutoring 150 CHF per term is applied to students who are not enrolled for private lessons through the Music School. Students already enrolled in private instrumental lessons through the Music School are enrolled automatically and is included in the cost of tuition. Classes are held from October 3, 2016 – May 31, 2017. Sing & Strum and Percussion Ensemble enrolment is on a per term basis. Classes are held from September 20, 2016 – June 16, 2017. Shared (two students) Sing and Strum are considered shared private lessons, please see the Terms and Conditions for private lessons for more information.
