Quatech serial PCMCIA cards are small, light, and have low
power requirements to reduce battery drain. They are available
with one to four independent RS-232/422/485 ports. The
standard version comes with a convenient detachable cable. For
more extreme computing environments, permanently attached
ruggedized cables are available. These cards are a flexible,
ExpressCards are another great way to add serial and parallel
ports to notebooks and other portable devices. Traditionally this
has been done with a USB or PCMCIA interface. However,
many portables no longer ship with a PCMCIA slot available.
One advantage to using ExpressCard technology over USB is
that the added ports more closely emulate those of built-in
ports. In other words, higher throughput and lower latency is
commonly better with ExpressCards based on PCIe designs.
These ExpressCards are designed in 34mm format which means
they will fit into any ExpressCard slot.
