Peer-to-Peer I/O (cable replacement)
b) Does your application require wire
replacement for analog and digital I/Os?
Two identical Zlinx I/O modules can be
used to wirelessly transmit analog and
digital I/O signals.
– Determine Indoor or Outdoor Radios:
c) Does your application require
Modbus connectivity to remote I/Os?
A Zlinx Radio Modem can be used to
connect multiple remote wireless Zlinx
I/O modules to a Modbus RTU master
such as a PLC, SCADA or HMI. (In one
network, all Zlinx modules MUST be the
same frequency.)
Indoor radios are preferred when a cabinet is available and DIN mounting is possible. Where cabinets are
not possible or expensive, or when panel mount is the only option, outdoor radios must be chosen. Indoor
and outdoor radios of the same frequency are compatible. Based on your application requirements,
determine whether indoor or outdoor or a combination of both is necessary.
– Do You Have More I/O Points?
Indoor versions of Zlinx I/Os are expandable. If your I/O count is more than available in any base I/O
modules (Model: ZZxD-Nx-xR), you can add up to 6 expansion modules to the base module. See page 82
for I/O expansion module options.
– Choose Wireless Accessories:
If ‘Yes’, select two identical Zlinx I/O
modules (p82).
If ‘Yes’, select 1 Zlinx Radio Modem
(p83), and one or more Zlinx I/O
modules (p82) as necessary.
See Pages 82-83 for indoor, standard Zlinx radio modems, base I/O, and expansion modules.
(To program indoor I/O modules, ZZ-PROG1-USB programming kit MUST be purchased. - see p82)
See Page 79 for IP67 outdoor Zlinx Xtreme radio modems and I/O modules.
(Zlinx Xtreme modules have a built-in USB programming port. A USB cable MUST be purchased, #USBAMBM-6F recommended - see p79)
Standard supplied Omni antennas would cover a limited distance based on the environmental factors. Where
more distance needs to be covered, High Gain Omni or Yagi antennas may be necessary. To use optional high
gain antennas or to extend the supplied antenna to an elevated location, antenna cables, connectors may be
necessary. If the location is lightning prone, lightning arrestors may be necessary.
