Field Application Story: Electrical Substations<br />

Electricity - we don’t think about it until it's missing. An electrical power substation uses transformers to “step<br />
down” high voltages from the transmission grid to lower levels for distribution to homes and businesses. A bus splits<br />
electricity to distribution lines. Circuit breakers and switches can disconnect it from the transmission grid or the<br />
distribution lines for maintenance, or because of fault conditions such as lighting, overloads, or equipment damage.<br />
These power faults must be identified and resolved quickly in order to restore power - and profit.<br />

Redundant Ring Group of Industrial Ethernet Switches<br />

proprietary redundant ring protocol<br />
that helps your network recover from<br />
connection failures within 20ms for<br />
EIR600 series and 300ms for EIR500<br />
series. The redundant ring algorithm is<br />
much like the spanning tree protocol<br />
(STP) algorithm but it has a much<br />
faster recovery time.<br />
