With over 5 million elderly people living on their own, and 50% citing television as their
main source of company, loneliness is an ever-present problem within our community
(Campaign To End Loneliness).
Cyril Flint Volunteers offer a flexible model of volunteering structured to suit you. Once
you are matched with a person to befriend you are able to decide between yourselves
when visits take place. Perhaps weekends may be better, or you are able to pop to visit
someone on your way home from work – as long as you can commit to an hour a week
it’s easy to factor volunteering into your weekly routine.
We are also delighted to be able to offer free training for our volunteers in the form of
distance learning programmes with Stephenson College. Topics include dementia and
mental health awareness and you can do up to five courses a year.

All we ask prospective volunteers is that you are 16 or over, able to commit to an hour
a week and happy to undergo a police DBS check.
