Blue Sky is a social enterprise with a difference – they only employ ex-offenders.<br />
Offering a proper job with a proper company, they aim to break the cycle of re-offending<br />
and challenge perceptions about ex-offenders, achieving real and long-term benefits for<br />
society.<br />
Details<br />
Targeted training takes place inside prison. Then, upon release, employment<br />
commences with on the job training for a one month trial period.<br />
If successful, individuals progress onto six month contracts in either grounds<br />
maintenance, waste management or catering. Employees are mentored and led by<br />
supervisors who have faced the same challenges. Blue Sky also provides its employees<br />
with the necessary social skills to tackle the key transitional phase into employment. An<br />
Employment Liaison Officer works with each team member to develop an individual<br />
training plan.<br />
