Details
Anxiety UK works to relieve and support those living with anxiety disorders by providing
information, support and understanding via an extensive range of services, including
1:1 therapy.
Volunteer roles include:
Anxiety UK runs a national helpline (phone, live chat and email service) from Monday
to Friday 9.30am – 5.30pm. We have vacancies for dedicated volunteers who are
interested in supporting individuals with anxiety disorders, whatever their need may be.
Additionally, the role involves highlighting how Anxiety UK can help the individual with
membership services, self-help resources and therapy services. Our helpline operates
in our office at Zion Centre (Mon-Fri 9.30am-5.30pm) and we ask all volunteers to
commit to a 4.25 hour shift per week. Full initial training will be provided, along with
ongoing personal development through reflection and supervision.
If individuals are not local to our offices in Manchester, there are other ways to give
their time, including:
- Assisting with our social media and website
- Contributing to Anxious Times magazine
- Raising awareness in your local community by distributing leaflets and/or
posters in community centres, GP surgeries, churches, etc.

Note that as volunteer positions entail working with vulnerable adults, all Anxiety UK
volunteers are required to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record Bureau Disclosure
check. The cost of this is £10 (which is refunded once six month’s volunteering activity
has been undertaken).
