If you are unemployed and aged 19 or over, The Manchester College can help you get
back on your feet with a FREE training programme that could lead to a brand new
career.
The programme includes:
- Induction to college
- Developing skills for gaining employment
- Group and teamwork communication skills
- Preparing for a recruitment interview
- Career preparation
- Teamwork skills
The course covers the following:
- Identifying possible employment outcomes
- Completing a job/training application form
- Creating a basic Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Interviews; preparation, appropriate conduct, communication and reflection
- Finding out about job/training opportunities in your local area
- Producing a plan for future career development
- Identifying health and safety procedures
- Team working
- Recognising praise and constructive criticism
- Effective communication
- Motivation
- Confidence building

When you apply to The Manchester College they may ask you to take two short tests
on a computer. These are to find out your level of skills in English and maths.
Depending on which course you apply for, they may also ask you to take an ICT test.
