Happy Hour at Uncle Buck’s by Chris Christensen Okay, so there was a bit of traffic to get to Uncle Buck’s, but that is no excuse for not coming out for some good food. We had a fairly small turnout of about 23 folks who braved the warmer temperatures and the traffic. We know that 114 is a challenge, but it will be for some time to come. So please give yourself some extra time and come to Happy Hour, we want to see your smiling “Porsche” faces. And for those of you with really good excuses - like you were on vacation and having a really good time or something close to that, we hope to see you at our next HH. The truth be known, the summer months do cause change of plans with travel and we wish everyone safe travels wherever you are this season. The food was again very good at the Uncle’s, the warm chicken salad and Ahi Tuna were excellent and looking around, it would seem everyone was enjoying what they had ordered. Prices are about $10 less per entree compared to an upper end restaurant, but in reality we are not sure the extra ten bucks in most cases is worth it. Oh sure, every once in a while we like to go to an expensive restaurant, but sometimes it is hard to justify in our current economy and if you are looking for a Buffalo Burger this is the place. Beer choices were very good, whether you select a micro-brew or a commercial standby. We had our usual location at the end of the restaurant that offers privacy behind a restaurant provided screen. You will all notice a picture of our driving champ (no guys it’s a young woman), Wendy Shoffit. Proof again that when women put their mind to it, they can do as well and in some cases better than the boys. So look out and over your shoulder guys, this gal is on the move! Congratulations Wendy on your winnings at Parade this year. Unfortunately we had to miss it, but we will hopefully be ready for next 24 Wendy & James Shoffit with one of her trophies! Proud Texan’s, John Harvey & Barbara Kauffman & BJ Harvey...Hope we saw you there! Photos by Chris Christensen year’s scheduled events in Savannah, Georgia. We hear that in 2012, Parade will be held in Salt Lake City, which I’m sure has some exciting future venues to visit. Round Up has come and gone, but for those of you who were able to attend, thank you. I’m sure you had a wonderful time and are looking forward to next year’s festivities. Your club has worked hard to put on this great event in Grapevine this year. Some of those who are working hard and deserve a big thank you are pictured in this article. There are so many activities in our very active Maverick Club, so please check the events section in your Slipstream or go to http://mav. pca.org for timely updates. Well, we are going to keep this month’s article on the abbreviated side, but we do hope to see more of you all at next month’s Happy Hour to be held at BJ’s, located at 1101 N. Central Expressway, Plano. Cheers for now, see you there.
