3.5. X-Ray Diffraction<br />
3.5.1. LaNi 5<br />
The LaNi 5 obtained from Alfa Aesar was directly transferred to the sample holder<br />
of the X-ray diffractometer without any treatment. A sample of LaNi 5 was loaded in the<br />
XRD and four consecutive X-ray spectra of the same sample were obtained, and given in<br />
Figure 37 along with the expected spectrum for LaNi 5 . Inconsistencies within the peak<br />
intensities were observed, yet the elemental analysis proved that the composition of the<br />
