Giants Causeway & Titanic, Belfast
The gateway to the rural retreat of Northern Ireland, Belfast’s industrial
heritage has shaped a city steeped in culture. Antrim’s spectacular coastline
takes you to the Giant’s Causeway, renowned for its polygonal columns of
layered basalt, which has been attracting visitors for centuries.
Day 1 This morning we travel to Holyhead
for our crossing to Dublin. Following our
relaxing ferry crossing, we arrive in Dundalk
and enjoy our welcome tea/coffee while our
luggage is taken to our room. We have time
to relax before dinner at the hotel.
Day 2 This morning, we travel to Belfast
harbour and board our Guided Titanic
Harbour Boat Tour. Embracing the Titanic story
both old and new, it allows us to view the
Titanic Quarter from the water and appreciate
the vastness of this important industrial era,
the tour continues towards the Musgrave
Channel where you can view Belfast’s large
breeding seal colony. Following the tour, we
have free time to have lunch in Belfast and
explore some of its many attractions such as
the Titanic Experience, SS Nomadic, Titanic’s
Dock and Pump House, Belfast Castle and
the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum.
Day 3 This morning, we will travel to Dublin
and enjoy a 45 minute guided cruise on
the River Liffey. We will gain an insight into
the history of the city from the arrival of
the Vikings to the impact of the Industrial
Revolution. We will discover the story behind
the iconic Ha’penny Bridge as well as
Gandon’s masterpiece, the imposing Custom
House. We will then visit Old Jameson
Distillery and experience a 1 hour guided tour,
which includes a tutored whiskey tasting!
You may then decide to have lunch in the
3rd Still Restaurant before spending the rest
of the day exploring the nearby 12th Century
Dublin Castle (local costs maybe incurred).
Day 4 Today we experience stunning
scenery during our spectacular drive along
the Antrim Coast. In the afternoon, we visit
the extraordinary Giant’s Causeway, the only
UNESCO World Heritage Site in Northern
Ireland. Flanked by the wild North Atlantic
Ocean on one side and a landscape of
dramatic cliffs on the other, for centuries
the Giant’s Causeway has inspired artists,
stirred scientific debate and captured the
imagination of all who see.
Day 5 After breakfast, we leave our hotel and
begin our journey home.
