The Three Mighty Rivers<br />
We join the crew of Croisieurope for an 8 day cruise from Bordeaux and<br />
return. Nestled between the ocean and an estuary, the Médoc is a renowned<br />
region where the most famous of all the red wines in the world is produced.<br />
Day 1 We depart our local area and travel<br />
to Folkestone for our crossing to Calais by<br />
Eurotunnel. We continue to Le Mans for our<br />
overnight hotel.<br />
Day 2 We continue our journey from Le<br />
Mans to Bordeaux arriving in Bordeaux<br />
approximately 4-5pm to enable us to settle<br />
comfortably into our cabins. Presentation<br />
of the crew and welcome cocktail will<br />
be followed by our evening meal and<br />
entertainment on board.<br />
Day 3 We will cruise down the Garonne to the<br />
Gironde, passing alongside the islands of<br />
Cazeau and Patiras before reaching Pauillac.<br />
Optional Excursions:<br />
Morning Helicopter Ride – Fly over the<br />
gorgeous Médoc! Experience a bird's eye<br />
view of the numerous châteaux and famous<br />
vineyards that give the region its reputation.<br />
It's a once in a lifetime experience! (Flight<br />
subject to favourable weather conditions.<br />
Reservations must be made before the cruise<br />
begins and are subject to availability.<br />
Afternoon You have the choice of the<br />
following optional tours.<br />
• You can either visit the Médoc, a renowned<br />
region where the most famous of all red<br />
wines in the world are cultivated. You will<br />
also have the opportunity to see the “must<br />
see” châteaux Lafite-Rothschild, Latour and<br />
Mouton Rothschild.<br />
OR<br />
• Get ready to discover the history,<br />
architecture and out-of-the-way places<br />
by bike in this exceptionally beautiful<br />
area. What better reward for the effort than<br />
a lovely glass of grand cru and some<br />
regional cheeses served in a prestigious<br />
château in the heart of Pauillac.<br />
We return on board for dinner followed<br />
by an evening of entertainment. We moor for<br />
the night in Pauillac.<br />
Day 4 We start out early this morning, cruising<br />
along the Gironde to the estuary. We will<br />
arrive in Blaye around 2:00 p.m.<br />
Optional Excursions:<br />
• The Route de la Corniche Fleurie and the<br />
Blaye Citadel.<br />
OR<br />
• We will leave on foot to visit the Blaye<br />
Citadel, built in the 17th century by<br />
Vauban in order to better protect the city of<br />
Bordeaux.<br />
We return on board for dinner and an evening<br />
of entertainment. We moor for the night in<br />
Blaye.<br />
Day 5 We set sail early this morning, taking<br />
breakfast as we cruise, heading towards<br />
Libourne. We join the river Dordogne and<br />
head for Libourne where we arrive in the early<br />
afternoon. Optional Excursion to Saint-Emilion<br />
– We have a guided visit of the underground<br />
monuments of Saint-Emilion village as our<br />
guide introduces us to the history of the<br />
medieval city. We then visit an exception<br />
Troglodyte settlement – the cave of Emilion,<br />
and we have a tasting to conclude our visit.<br />
We rejoin our floating hotel in Libourne at the<br />
end of the afternoon. After dinner on board<br />
we have an evening’s entertainment provided<br />
by our crew before we moor for the night.<br />
Day 6 We spend the morning cruising to<br />
Cadillac.<br />
Optional Excursions:<br />
• Guided visit to the Roque-taillade chateau<br />
OR<br />
• You will set out for a guided tour on foot of<br />
the hillsides in Cadillac. You'll cross the city,<br />
passing in front of the imposing Château<br />
des Ducs d'Épernon before hiking up the<br />
