forward to what 2017 has in store
for our wonderful City. I hope you
and your family had a wonderful holiday
season.
The City ended 2016 on a great note.
We were pleased to once again have
the City’s AAA credit rating affirmed by
Fitch Ratings and Standard & Poor’s agency. This rating is the
highest bond rating an organization can earn. As an AAA rated
City, Coral Springs has saved, and will continue to save, millions
of dollars in interest and credit enhancements such as bond
insurance. This credit rating confirms our stable financial position,
and that has a tremendous fiscal impact for our residents.
With the start of a new year, we have exciting events to look
forward to. Each January, we honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. Don’t miss I Have a Dream - a special performance
reflecting the life and words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It will take
place on Friday, January 13, at the Center for the Arts at 7pm.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets are now
available at the Center for the Arts, City Hall, and City Hall in the
Mall.
I am also excited to have our third Mayors’ Chess Challenge
on Saturday, January 28, from 9 to 11am at Coral Glades High
School. Mayors throughout Broward County and other local city
officials will be there to participate. This event is open to everyone,
regardless of age or skill level. This is a free, open play event, so
registration is not necessary. Coral Glades High School is behind
the Sportsplex at 2700 Sportsplex Drive, Coral Springs.
On Saturday, February 4, we’re hosting a Family Fun Day and Car
Show at the Sportsplex from 10am to 2pm. There will be music,
food trucks, vendors, bounce houses, and entertainment. There
will be a nominal fee for some of the activities. Cost to register a
vehicle is $15, or $20 on the day of the event. For information, call

Last but not least, I also want to invite residents to the annual
State of the City, which will be on Thursday, February 16, at
6:30pm. The City will highlight its accomplishments over the
past year, thank its volunteers, and end the night with a concert
by GetBack!, featuring favorite hits from The Beatles. The event
is free and will be at the Center for the Arts, 2855 Coral Springs
Drive. Tickets are free and available on a first-come, first-serve
basis at City Hall and City Hall in the Mall. Please keep in mind that
residents must be 13 to attend. P

hours are the second Tuesday of every month from 4:00pm
to 6:00pm at City Hall in the City Commission Office. To
