Library reading buddies (K-5th grade)<br />
Mondays, 3:30 to 4:30pm<br />
Reading Buddies is a cross-age, effective<br />
method of energizing young readers. The<br />
Parkland Juniorettes have partnered with<br />
the Parkland Library to help students that<br />
are struggling with reading. The Parkland<br />
Juniorettes are high school girls dedicated to<br />
making a difference. Reading Buddies will<br />
meet every Monday at the Parkland Library.<br />
On the Mondays that school is closed<br />
Reading Buddies will not meet. Registration<br />
not required.<br />
Knit n KnowLedge<br />
Monday, <strong>January</strong> 4th, 10:30am<br />
Bring your own projects, tips, techniques,<br />
and ideas to share with fellow knitters at the<br />
Parkland Library.<br />
bricKs and booKs<br />
Thursday, <strong>January</strong> 7th, 4pm<br />
Children age 7 and older, bring your imagination<br />
and Lego building skills to the library. At<br />
each Bricks and Books meeting we will have<br />
a new building challenge. Conquer each challenge<br />
with a buddy or work on your own.<br />
art reception with diane simpson<br />
Saturday, <strong>January</strong> 9th, 11am<br />
Diane Gonzalez Simpson is a native of<br />
New York. She moved to Broward County<br />
with her family in 1972. Diane has called<br />
Coral Springs her home since 1987. She<br />
has always been interested in Art, taking<br />
electives in school. After many years of<br />
crafting as a Girl Scout Leader, she began<br />
painting in 2007. Today, in her spare time,<br />
Diane paints for fun. She started painting in<br />
oil at the Coral Springs Community School<br />
under the direction of Bill Hargreaves. She<br />
has painted landscapes, portraits, animals,<br />
and seascapes. Diane was featured in the<br />
May 2015 issue of the Parklander.<br />

Crafternoon: an afternoon solely devoted<br />
to the joys of crafting. Parents and children<br />
ages 5 and older will enjoy making a sock<br />
snowman together.<br />
a LooK inside the redesigned sat<br />
Wednesday, <strong>January</strong> 13th, 6:30pm<br />
This interactive talk for parents and students<br />
is to demystify the Redesigned SAT.<br />
For several months, the Mindworks Prep<br />
team has been hard at work deconstructing<br />
the revised SAT in order to adjust their<br />
training and materials. They’ve scrubbed<br />
the test thoroughly, assessing the concepts<br />
covered, the frequency with which those<br />
concepts appear, and the difficulty levels<br />
of the questions. Mindworks Prep is eager<br />
to share their insights and conclusions with<br />
you to guide you through the Redesigned<br />
SAT journey.<br />
mah Jongg for beginners<br />

In five sessions you will learn the basics of<br />
this challenging game. The instructor, Jill<br />
Vogel, is a Mah Jongg aficionado and will<br />
share both her knowledge and love of the<br />

Parkland Library Chess Club is for children,<br />
ages 8 and older. Beginners can learn to<br />
play and players meet your match. You<br />
must be a Parkland Library card holder<br />
to join. Children must be 8 years or older.<br />
Registration is required for each game date.<br />
minecraft cLub (age 7 and oLder)<br />
Wednesday, <strong>January</strong> 27th ,4pm<br />
Are you crazy about Minecraft and just<br />
can’t stop building? The Parkland Library’s<br />
Minecraft Club is right for you. Children will<br />
get the chance to build, explore, share, and<br />
learn the basics of Minecraft. Participants<br />
must bring their own device with Minecraft<br />
already downloaded.<br />
