74 CITAM BURUBURU PRIMARY SCHOOL REPORT • Community: We participated in two walks in our community involvement. We had a Run for Bibleless and Mater Heart run where the parents, teachers and pupils participated overwhelmingly. This made an impact to the community and we were officially recognized by the two organizations for a job well done Infrastructure Students’ council Elections 2015 was a positive deviation of +27.75 in comparison to 2014. We strive to attain a mean score of 384.00 in KCPE 2016. With prayers and hard work we shall achieve it. Co-curricular Activities In line with our motto of educating a whole person, our pupils excelled in co-curricular activities that had been outlined for the year. • In drama, the dance “Anti Vitamins” was unstoppable. We were crowned champions in all the levels of competition as from Zonal, Districts, and Regionals all the way to the nationals. The dance won in various other categories as “best choreographed dance”, “best production” and the “best soloist” at the nationals we simply out did all the other competitors and that is an indicator that we are a school to reckon with. • In Tae Kwondo, the school team participated in the annual tournament held at The Banda School. The team won a total of 35 medals thus leaving our competitors to be mere spectators. This brought out our prowess in the game. The massive projects that the Buruburu campus initiated have all come to completion: • Perimeter wall: The entire Buruburu campus has a perimeter wall that runs all-round the campus. This has enhanced the security situation in the compound thus the safety of the learners and teachers is assured. • Children’s playground: The playground has been upgraded and very soon it will be of high standard. The disciplines that require the pitch for its activities will be greatly advantaged. This year we trust upon the Lord for the facelift of the whole campus in line with our 2016 projections. Looking Ahead The school is focused in being the model school in Kenya where every learner is impacted with sound Christian education and educational instruction so as to churn out godly, upright and intellectual leaders for this generation and beyond. This is in line with our organisation’s vision. Core Values As an institution, we are committed to effective and efficient service delivery. We have ensured that we put into practise the organisation’s core values in our day to day running: • Family: We had a family prayer breakfast where all the parents and teachers in the Buruburu campus led by the Deputy Bishop Rev Ken Kimiywe participated. CITAM WOODLEY SCHOOL REPORT 75 We had a very busy and successful year in school, and you as partners in the education of your children deserve much of the credit for that David Omutanyi Principal Introduction We at CITAM Schools- Woodley look back with a lot of gratitude to God for the things He has done, as we continue ‘Pressing towards the mark.’ Having ended the year with a lot of uncertainty in the nation, and especially with the protracted teachers’ strike bearing in mind our proximity to Kibra slums, we thank God for His favour and protection. Our Theme for the year 2015 was, “Unblocking the ancient wells” Gen. 26:23-25. We have continued to experience excellence and growth in all dimensions; academically, numerically and spiritually. We appreciate all those who have faithfully walked with us this far. As we come to the close of the year, I am happy to report that we have seen the hand of God in every activity. New Enrolment Currently, the school enrolment stands at 799 pupils; 210 in Nursery and 589 in Primary. We hope for continued numerical growth in 2016. Academics The school’s academic performance has continued to improve and we are determined to transform CITAM Schools- Woodley to a centre of academic excellence, a home away from home and a school of choice to many. Forty nine candidates sat KCPE 2015 examination and posted a mean score of 332.96 translating to 66.59%. The summary is as tabulated below: KCPE Marks Number of Pupils 400 and above 2 350 – 399 15 300 – 349 20 250 – 299 10 Below 250 1 The school’s top student: Otieno Lister Apella scored 403 out of a possible 500 marks followed by Orimba Pearl Nungari with 401 marks. Other exceptional performers were; Meseret Misikiri Mengesha 396, Maina Kimani Joshua 388, Githiomi Daniel Mwangi 385, Redempta Umutoni 381among others. We are indeed grateful to God! Co-curricular Activities At CITAM Schools- Woodley, we endeavor to identify and nurture talent in all aspects of learning in a bid to maximize on the God-given talents in the learners without stifling their freedom.
