Celebrating our Silver Jubilee IMMANUEL METHODIST BOYS AND GIRLS BRIGADE 11th TEMA COMPANY BOYS AND GIRLS BRIGADE “Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth” (Eccl 12:1) The Boys’ & Girls’ Brigade had its roots in Glasgow, Scotland, where in 1883, the first Brigade company was organized. On January 22, 1900, the Boys’ Brigade was formed at a Neenah Presbyterian church. On the other hand, the Girls brigade was founded by Sunday school union in United Kingdom in the year 1893. The objective of Boys Brigade is the advancement of Christ kingdom among boys and the promotion of habit of obedience, reverence, discipline, self-respect and all that turns towards a true Christian manliness. (Hebrews 6:19).The aim of the Girls Brigade is to become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and through self-control, reverence and a sense of responsibility to find true Christian life. The 11thTemaCompany Boys and Girls brigade was formed with the support of Mr. Isaac Eshun of 4thTema company-Bethel Methodist Community 8. The brigade started with eight (8) Girls officers’, six (6) Boys officers, 10 senior boys, 7 senior girls, 7 non-commissioned officers (NCOs), 13 Junior boys. 11thTema Company of the boys and girls brigade was inaugurated on 10th December 1995 by Rev. John K. Bassaw first Chaplain with Mr.Quayeson as the 1st Boys Captain and Ivy Botchway as the 1st Girls Captain. The brigade subsequently had its second enrollment on the 14th of December 1997. The Brigade runs on four (4) main pillars namely; physical, spiritual, educational and social. Captains The Boys Captains: 1st Captain Quayeson from 1995 -1997 2nd Captain Kwaw Mensah Tweneboah 1997 - 2000 3rd Captain Mathias Graves 2000 - 2011 4th Captain Ernest Amoah 2011 till date The Girls Brigade Captains: 1st captain Ivy Botchway 1995 till date Conclusion We plan to continue develop responsible Christian leaders from these young ones for the church and the society. The Lord is good and His mercies endures forever. We of 11thTema Boys and Girls Brigade are full of praise and give glory to the Almighty Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His goodness and mercies and for how far He IMMANUEL S O C I E T Y 43
