Take Your Brain with You By: Stu Cooper / Happy Destinations When you go on vacation, do not leave your brain at home. Yes, going on vacation is a fun and relaxing time. We might be sitting on a beautiful beach somewhere or visiting an exotic European city. In any of these instances, we can be victims of petty crime or travel difficulties. There are certain things we can do to make our vacations more secure. Secure from those who will scam you, from those who will pick-pocket you, from those who will separate you from your valuables. First - if you have any valuable jewelry, watches, gold chains, sentimental family heirlooms, leave them at home. If you “must” take that jewelry with you, don't "flaunt" it. When not wearing it, keep them in the hotel room or cruise cabin safe As for purses and wallets; ladies - you want to be able to hang a pocket book over your head and across your body. Never leave your pocket book dangling at your side. Also your pocket book should zipper close. Zippers are harder for pick-pockets to gain entry. Men, keep your wallet in your front pocket. Never in your back pocket. Pick-pockets just love to see wallets bulging out of your back pocket. Now when on vacation, what should you carry in your wallet or pocket book? Never carry a lot of money. Just a few dollars for things you can't buy with credit cards. A total of $100 should be more than enough. I have many more “don't leave your brain at home when you go on vacation" suggestions.
