Easter
Easter Feast
From hot cross donuts and other sweet treats,
to how to cook the perfect Easter Sunday
lunch, we speak to the people in the know
when it comes to delicious treats this Easter
Hot Cross Donuts are top of the menu at George’s Bakery for
Easter this year! They have all of the spice and fruit of a normal
hot cross bun but are deep fried instead of toasted and rolled
in spiced sugar and filled with apricot jam. A traditional Easter
favourite at George’s stall, they were one of his first creations
when he started markets in spring 2015. They will be available
from 25th March - 15th April with limited supply, so be sure to
be at the market early!
Other Easter bakes will include Ely Sloe Gin with cherry and
chocolate simnel cake, the gooey Crème Egg brownies and
seasonal quiches will include lamb, pea and mint quiche and
asparagus, pea, broad bean and ricotta quiche.
Hot Cross Donuts
More notable bakes to look for include cronuts in salted caramel,
chocolate hazelnut and other seasonal flavours, plus George’s
most popular cakes: the towering salted caramel layer cake,
maple syrup and bacon cake and the indulgent chocolate cookie
dough cake.
George’s stall will be at Ely and St.Ives Farmers Markets as well
as Cambridge market every Sunday.
Chocolat Chocolat
“We love Easter, and so do our customers” says Isabelle Chappell
Chocolatier and owner of Cambridge’s very own Chocolat
Chocolat, on St Andrews’s Street, Cambridge.
Although it’s a small shop inside you will find an enormous
range of chocolate to suit all tastes and budgets from pocket
money treats to hampers perfect for sharing. This Easter will be
no different and Isabelle is planning to offer one of the widest
ranges of Easter treats in Cambridgeshire.
“We will be making our own Easter eggs plaques again this year
because our customers loved them so much, some of them have
already popped in to the shop and ordered theirs already” said
Isabelle, explaining that the plaques are handmade from luxury
chocolate and can be customised with your favourite toppings or
can even have a hand written message piped in chocolate.
There will also be a wide range of Easter eggs all made with the
finest Belgian chocolate, starting from under a £1, there will be a
tasty Easter gift to suit all.
Isabelle is determined to look after every customer and for
the last few years she has stocked a range of Easter treats
suitable for those with dietary needs and unable to share normal
chocolate eggs. Chocolat Chocolat will be stocking a wide range
of specialist Easter treats: sugar free, dairy free, gluten free and
nut free perfect for those who need to avoid specific ingredients,
but still love the taste of luxury chocolate.
The shop will also be running chocolate courses over the Easter
weekend, when budding chocolatiers will be able to learn how to
make handmade truffles spending over two hours learning from
an expert just easy it is to make luxury chocolates at home.
At Chocolat Chocolat Easter comes in all shapes and sizes, but
one thing is sure: it will be full of chocolatey fun.
