Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detectors<br />

One electric smoke/carbon monoxide detector has been installed on or near<br />

<strong>the</strong> ceiling of your home. They are directly wired to your electrical system and<br />

will not operate in <strong>the</strong> event of a power outage. We suggest that you regularly<br />

test each smoke detector to ensure <strong>the</strong>y are working properly. Smoke detector<br />

covers should be cleaned monthly using <strong>the</strong> soft brush or wand attachment<br />

of a vacuum cleaner or a damp cloth.<br />

Central Vacuum Rough-Ins<br />

In <strong>the</strong> event that your home is equipped with a central vacuum rough-in,<br />

outlets have been installed in diff erent locations on fi nished fl oor levels<br />

to allow a thirty foot long hose to reach <strong>the</strong> fi nished rooms in your home.<br />

Please note that central vacuum rough-ins are only “roughed-in” <strong>the</strong> areas<br />

that are inaccessible and when installing your central vacuum <strong>the</strong>re will<br />

be some extensions needed.<br />

Dishwasher Rough-Ins<br />

During your design centre appointments you may have opted to have<br />

a cupboard component installed in <strong>the</strong> dishwasher location. If you choose<br />

to install a dishwasher at a later date, remove <strong>the</strong> dishwasher cupboard<br />

component installed by <strong>Minto</strong>. An electrical plug will have been installed<br />

in <strong>the</strong> fl oor area underneath <strong>the</strong> dishwasher cabinet. This dedicated plug<br />

(receptacle) will be connected to <strong>the</strong> breaker in your Electrical Panel.<br />

Future rough-in connections for <strong>the</strong> dishwasher hot water supply and drain<br />

waste are usually located in <strong>the</strong> cabinet containing <strong>the</strong> kitchen sink.<br />

Security System Pre-Wiring<br />

In <strong>the</strong> event that your home is equipped with rough-in wiring for a security<br />

system, it will have been pre-wired with <strong>the</strong> termination of wires near <strong>the</strong><br />

Electrical Panel.<br />

It is advisable that you provide a copy of <strong>the</strong> home communications distribution<br />

panel information pamphlet to your security service, prior to <strong>the</strong>ir completing<br />

<strong>the</strong> connections for your security system. Tapping or cutting into <strong>the</strong><br />

telephone feeder from <strong>the</strong> demarcation box, <strong>the</strong> Network Interface Device<br />

mounted on <strong>the</strong> exterior of your home, will decrease <strong>the</strong> capabilities of your<br />

distribution panel.<br />

Intercom System for <strong>Condo</strong>miniums<br />

All <strong>the</strong> apartment buildings have front door entry intercom systems where <strong>the</strong><br />

home owners or tenants’ names are listed on <strong>the</strong> intercom plate with a four<br />

digit code. When <strong>the</strong> 4 digit code is entered, <strong>the</strong> recipients phone will ring to<br />

a mobile or land phone line (whichever was given to <strong>the</strong> inspector when <strong>the</strong>y
