General Maintenance<br />

Prior to occupancy, <strong>Minto</strong> will have cleaned all heating ducts to remove excess<br />

dust and dirt as well as construction debris. There is no recommended time<br />

frame for repeating this practice; <strong>the</strong> need may be based on health problems<br />

such as allergies.<br />

Heat registers and cold air returns must be kept free from obstructions such<br />

as carpets, furniture, and wall hangings. Obstructions could impair <strong>the</strong> air fl ow<br />

and effi ciency of your home’s heating/cooling system.<br />

Furnace fi lters vary in type; ei<strong>the</strong>r a permanent or disposable fi lter will be<br />

provided with your furnace. Filters should be cleaned or changed, depending<br />

on <strong>the</strong> type, at least every two months during <strong>the</strong> heating season. Failure to<br />

clean or replace fi lters may interfere with <strong>the</strong> quality and quantity of air fl ow<br />

within <strong>the</strong> home.<br />

For your safety, please do not store any combustible materials within two feet<br />

of your furnace.<br />

Furnace Operation<br />

If your furnace fails to operate, to avoid <strong>the</strong> inconvenience and perhaps <strong>the</strong><br />

cost of a service call, check <strong>the</strong> following items fi rst:<br />

1. Ensure that <strong>the</strong> home’s <strong>the</strong>rmostat is properly operating and, if applicable,<br />

programmed properly<br />

2. Ensure that exterior intake and exhaust vents are free<br />

of obstruction<br />

3. Ensure that <strong>the</strong> furnace emergency on/off isolating switch located<br />

in <strong>the</strong> furnace area is in <strong>the</strong> ‘on’ position<br />

4. Ensure that <strong>the</strong> circuit breaker in <strong>the</strong> electrical panel dedicated for<br />

<strong>the</strong> furnace is in <strong>the</strong> ‘on’ position<br />

5. Review <strong>the</strong> operating procedures in your furnace manual<br />

During <strong>the</strong> warranty period, if <strong>the</strong> problem continues to exist after checking<br />

all of <strong>the</strong> above, <strong>Minto</strong> Master<strong>Care</strong> should be contacted.<br />

In <strong>the</strong>se instances, <strong>Minto</strong> will contact <strong>the</strong> fi rm that supplied and installed your<br />

furnace and request service. Following <strong>the</strong> lapsing of <strong>the</strong> warranty period,<br />

service calls should be directed to a fi rm of your choice.<br />

Note: Furnace fi lters should be changed every two months.
