Since the launch of Bluebeam in
2002, Bluebeam Revu has
become the industry-leading
markup and collaboration software for
increasing efficiency throughout an
entire project lifecycle. This focus on
streamlining project workflows, means
that Bluebeam continuously strives to
ensure that each version of Revu
released is bigger and better than the
last. Containing feature suggestions
from existing clients and expert
software engineers, Revu 2017 is no
exception.
The new ‘wow' feature of the latest
version is the Dynamic Fill tool, which
makes it easier to markup and measure
complex regions in PDF plans. The tool
allows the user to click on the area they
want to measure, depicted by different
colours, to show the measurements for
more accurate takeoffs.
In addition Quantity Link, found in the
Revu eXtreme version, will make
creating project bids even faster. It
allows the user to link multiple PDFs to
Excel worksheets so that bid
calculations are updated in real time, as
measurements are changed or added
in Revu. Other new features of Revu
2017 include the ability to embed
panoramic images, Automatic Form
Creation (eXtreme only) and
enhancements to the measurements
tool and count tool.
For those involved in the world of BIM,
the enhancements to the 3D PDF tools
are of particular interest. The newly reengineered
model data tree allows the
user to view and manage expansive 3D
model metadata, enabling increased
access to object metadata across the
whole construction supply chain.
Combined with Bluebeam Revu's
existing Studio collaboration tools, an
environment for easy, streamlined
sharing and collaborative working in
real time is more than just a possibility.
Project stakeholders from around the
world can view, chat and comment on
the same PDFs together in real time or
on their own time with all activity
tracked in a full audit trail of all session
attendees' changes.
