DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION WITH ARITHMETICA
Arithmetica, the UK innovator
in rapid laser scanning data
processing, has appointed
point3D as a reseller for Pointfuse.
Point3D will be the first US
reseller of the recently released
Pointfuse V2, which represents
a new generation of point cloud
3D modeling software.
The launch of Pointfuse V2 in
Europe demonstrated a new
paradigm in the processing of
laser scanned point cloud data.
Now with a simple 'one touch
one button' approach, the new
techniques in Pointfuse V2 not
only convert point clouds into
3D vector models with accurate
geometry, but also enable discrete
surfaces in these models
to be isolated and manipulated
in third party software to a
greater extent than ever before.
"We have declared 2017 a
year for digital transformation,
and believe that Pointfuse will
support us, our customers and
our partners in this journey,"
commented Grew Lawes, Principal
Owner of point3D. "Laser
scanning hardware has developed
to such an extent that we
Causeway Technologies
has announced the
appointment of Colin Smith
as Chief Executive Officer,
whilst former CEO Phil Brown
will be taking a more strategic
role as Chairman.
Colin’s previous roles
include Managing Director of
construction ERP vendor
COINS, founder of BIW Technologies,
a leading supplier
of Software as a Service
(SaaS) based project management
software, and president
of Textura Europe Ltd.
Colin Smith commented:
“Causeway’s philosophy of
now capture point clouds of
increasing size and density,
often without due consideration
of the processing requirement
or ultimate use. Pointfuse V2
tackles this issue head on! Its
powerful point cloud engine
combined with the ease of generation,
manipulation and use
of vector data, will revolutionise
the scan-to-CAD workflow."
Pointfuse V2 is a powerful
modeling engine that delivers a
fast, precise and flexible way of
converting the vast point cloud
datasets generated by laser
scanners or photogrammetry
into high fidelity vector models.Designed
for anyone capturing
or using point cloud data,
Pointfuse V2 uses advanced
statistical techniques to create
vector models which can then
be manipulated using any
industry-standard CAD system.
Arithmetica is an innovator in
360 degree image processing
and automated laser scanning
data processing software and is
the company behind Spherevision
and Pointfuse.
CAUSEWAY APPOINTS COLIN SMITH AS CEO
understanding its customers’
pains and passions, and
using technical innovation to
deliver game-changing solutions
is the perfect synergy
for my own business ethos. I
am therefore excited to be
joining the company at a time
when the built environment
sector is facing a wide range
of disparate challenges.
“I am particularly looking forward
to building on the strong
foundations that have already
been laid and delivering the
solutions that the industry
needs,” he continued.
and Product Design has now
launched its 2017 call for
entries. Those involved in a UKbased
wood project are invited
to enter and have until 26 May
to submit their applications.
Established in 1971, the
Wood Awards recognises,
encourages and promotes
outstanding design, craftsmanship
and installation using
wood in projects throughoutthe
UK. The Wood Awards’ independent
judging panel not
only judges all submitted
entries but also visits the
shortlisted projects in person.
HIGH-FLYING DEAL FOR ACONEX
enterprise agreement with
Aconex. Under the agreement,
the firm will standardise on
Aconex solutions to manage
virtually all small to mediumsized
construction projects that
are integral to operations at
Dubai International (DXB) and
Dubai World Central (DWC).
Through 2021, Dubai Airports
expects to undertake more
than a hundred smaller infrastructure
projects. Throughout
all projects, normal airport
operations must be maintained
owner, anyone associated with
a building or product completed
in the last two years, can
enter. Buildings must be located
within the UK whilst furniture
and other products must have
been either designed or manufactured
in the UK.The competition
is free to enter and
entrants may submit more than
