- The First Republic of Austria was established in 1919.
- In 1938, through the process known as the Anschluss, the
country was occupied by Nazi Germany.
- This occupation would last until the end of World War
II, when Austria would regain its independence and
establish in 1955 the Second Republic of Austria.
- Also known as the Viennese Versailles, it is one of the main
historical and cultural buildings of Austria.
- Since the 19th century it has been one of the main tourist
attractions in the city of Vienna and has appeared in postcards,
documentaries and various films.
- The palace, along with its gardens, was named Unesco's World
Heritage Site in 1996.
