SPOTLIGHT
Party…
Beach Style
Be young. Be free. Live in the moment…
and party in a bliss. Koh Pha Ngan’s
Full Moon Party is a world famous
festival of a night and a regular
monthly event in the region, with
parties held on July 10th and August
7th, 2017. Boats take revellers across
from Koh Samui and back again, with
lazy days on the beach adding some
pre-event chilling and promising
some post-festival recovery.
If you find the idea of a Full
Moon Party too full on, then the
balmy evenings of July and August
are ideal for laid-back drinks on the
beach, watching fire dancers and
mini beach parties in popular island
hotspots such as Chaweng. Head to
a beach where you can lounge on
cushions on a mat on the sand or
enjoy an intimate dinner under the
stars with a table in the sand.
As the sun sets, follow a massage
on the beach with a sundowner and
perhaps dinner and some dancing,
Thai-island style. For a more
upmarket beach-party atmosphere
grab a cabana and relax in style at
Nikki Beach, known for its Sunday brunches,
at home on glorious Lipa Noi Beach in
Samui. The beach-club experience is all
about lounging in a fabulous beachside
location with a cool pool, delicious food
and great people watching!
BE WELL, GET BETTER
The beauty of islands such as Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngnan,
as well as the mainland coastline of the Gulf of Thailand, inspires
a feeling of wellbeing.
There are plenty of year-round retreats and special
workshops that attract international yoga masters to come and
teach. In August, Australian Kula Yoga teachers will be running
a blissful week of yin yoga, vinyasa flow and meditation in Koh
Samui at the Vikasa Retreat Centre.
Drop-in studios on the island include The Yogarden in
Fisherman’s Village in Bophut; Yoga House in Lamai; and
Absolute Sanctuary in Choeng Mon. Enjoy healthy lunches and
Samui’s café culture to make the most of wellness getaways.
The natural beauty of Thailand’s beaches brings out a
sense of freedom and inner peace that really takes you to a
place of deep relaxation. It is little wonder that Thailand has a
global reputation as a wellness retreat oasis; a haven for yoga,
meditation and detox workshop experiences in a beautiful part
of the world. kulayoga.com.au/workshops/retreats; house-yoga.com;
