Anamosa - A Reminiscence 1838 - 1988

The first trustees were: Seaman Swaze, president:
J .L. Joslin, secretary and D.G. Starling, treasurer.
These men, along with Allen Sones. who lived in
Anamosa. formed a committee to replace the church,
which was adjudged to be unsafe. This was in 1884 and
Rev. L.B. Hix was pastor. They lacked the necessary
amount of 8 1500 to finance the work, but they signed a
note to cover the sum.
The Junior Christian Endeavor bought the church
bell in 1922, under the leadership of Mrs. Pard Miller.
The Senior Christian Endeavor bought the piano, under
the direction of Mabel Sones.
The Thimble Society was organized in 1909. with
Mrs. Emily Joslin, president. The present annex was
completed in 1911, under the sponsorship of this group
who raised over 8700. The pastor was Fred Riggs and
Dr. Cronk was the superintendent.

Bainbridge, Harry Brunn. Harold Knight. Marvin Hulse.
Moses Alexander, Gail Zackefross, Russell Hansen
Charles Huffman. Lloyd Fostor, Harry Buss, G.M.
Talbot. i?) Dickenson. Carl L. Windsor, Lloyd Mitchell,
Everette Bennett. Gary Dobbins. Fred Richardson, Tim
Henry. Lloyd Dutro, and (7) Silleman.
