Ibrahim said BSFS has some 1,300 staff
who work on shifts around the clock
throughout the year due to flights
operating throughout the day.
"We aren't just an assembly-line kitchen.
We make our meals from scratch and
source our raw materials from Hazard
Analysis and Critical Control Point
(HACCP)-certified suppliers."
Ibrahim added that the company
provided meal delivery services to
respective aircraft using special trucks
that maintains the temperatures of the
meals for re-heating purposes on board
the aircraft.
Certified Halal
Ibrahim said both flight kitchens with the
other one operating in Penang are
certified Halal. The Penang kitchen
serves around 10 airlines and makes
between 5,000 and 6,000 meals per day.
"We are proud to say that we are
probably the only flight kitchen in the
world with a 'samak' (Islamic cleansing
methods) system in place for all
inbound crockery."
On the country's booming growth and
focus towards the Halal industry, Ibrahim
said, "We are rising in tandem with the
country's push and progress. Not only
that, we are contributing to the Halal
awareness both locally and globally."
In 2014, Brahim's organised a Halal
conference in Japan for Japanese
companies interested in contributing to
the Halal industry. The conference
included representatives from the
Malaysian Islamic Development
Department (Jakim) and the Malaysian
Islamic Understanding Institute (Ikim).
"We also have a Halal Excellence
Centre which has certified 31 airline
kitchens around the world as the airline
industry has recognised us as a
pioneering expert and consultant in
the Halal certification and Halal industry
in general."

Apart from airline catering and F&B
operations at the terminals, Brahim's
has been providing ready-to-eat meals
for 44 train services out of Kuala
Lumpur under Keretapi Tanah Melayu
Berhad's (KTMB) high-speed ETS
(Electric Train Service).
Apart from that, the month of September
will see Brahim's collaborating with
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM
to upgrade the university's food quality
and hygiene standards as well as
provide meals.
Inspiration
Brahim's serves ready-to-eat meals at
150 7-Eleven stores within the Klang
Valley and operates a staff cafeteria at
Menara Shell in Kuala Lumpur.
Moving Forward
"We are diverse in our operations and
often dabble in non-food related
operations but our core operations will
always be around food services. Given
the opportunity, we would like to expand
our presence abroad further as well as
within Malaysia and at other international
airports under Malaysia Airports."
Ibrahim said Brahim's and Malaysia
Airports has had a harmonious work
relationship since operations began at
the old Subang airport and hopes the
relationship will continue to prosper and
promote mutual learning experiences
that benefits them and the masses.
