LUNCH FOR<br />
A CAUSE<br />
Each year a dedicated group of volunteers on the Sunshine<br />
Coast run surf-related events to raise much-needed funds for<br />
severely disabled local children and their families.<br />
Since 2005 The Board Meeting has raised close to $400,000<br />
for these local families, proving that surfers have big hearts<br />
when it comes to helping out those in the community.<br />
On Friday July 25th, The Board Meeting will be hosting a<br />
"Legends of Surf Long Lunch" at the Alex Surf Club. Guests<br />
of honour include surf pioneer Bob McTavish and Australian<br />
Surfi ng Hall of Fame inductee Mark Warren. There will also<br />
be a number of items to be auctioned including a Morning Of<br />
The Earth replica from Mark Pridmore of More Surfboards.<br />
Tickets for three-course lunch and 3 hours of free drinks are<br />
just $100 per head.<br />

WATERMAN<br />
We were saddened to hear<br />
the news of the passing<br />
of Dave Jack man, pio neer<br />
waterman from Sydney’s<br />
Northern Beaches and uncle<br />
to Jay Jackman of Sadhana<br />
Surfboards in Christchurch.<br />
Revered as a legendary<br />
con queror of the<br />
Queenscliff Bombora and<br />
for his sub se quent big wave<br />
exploits on Hawaii’s North<br />
Shore, Dave was part of the<br />
first Aus tralian team to tour<br />
Hawaii. He also had numerous<br />
iron man and surf life<br />
saving titles to his name - even<br />
a qualification to the Munich<br />
Olympics for kayak ing. He<br />
was in every sense, a true<br />
waterman.<br />
Dave was also well known as<br />
a board builder, boat builder,<br />
musician, athlete, movie stunt<br />
dou ble, mentor and gen eral<br />
good bloke.<br />
