Day 15-19:<br />
BoarDs, BoarDs,<br />
BoarDs...<br />
How could I ever be criticised for bringing the<br />
occasional surfboard home?<br />
First off, I got to see the high performance<br />
longboards ridden by local stars Christian<br />
Pimm and Jason Livingston featuring Martin<br />
Worthington colour work at Soul Surf, along<br />
with their incredible collection of vintage<br />
boards and memorabilia.<br />
Next was Bennett Surfboards, where I<br />
literally dribbled from the moment I walked in<br />
the door until I left.<br />
Later that day I caught up with Dan Bekis from<br />
DJB. I saw Dan Bekis' boards about 2 years<br />
ago at the Wanda Fish Fry and loved them. This<br />
however was the first day I actually got to meet<br />
Dan and what a down-to-earth, easy to talk to<br />
bloke he was. I must say to anyone who may<br />
have feared getting a custom because of the<br />
process, or because of any concern of being<br />
confronted with a 'too cool' crowd, just see<br />
this guy. Enthusiastic yet relaxed, with a real<br />
passion for custom crafting boards.<br />
