Roger Hall<br />
RUAKAKA AND WAIPU COVE<br />
Heading further north to Ruakaka and mysteriously<br />
I fi nd myself at Roger Hall’s Surfline Surfboards.<br />
Roger is one of the most innovative surfboard<br />
manufacturers around. His boards were featured in<br />
an exhibition at the Auckland Art Gallery late last<br />
year as part of the Design Encounter exhibition.<br />
The quality of design, finish, various inlays, stringer<br />
treatments, colours and sheer innovation of Roger’s<br />
boards are outstanding. I was really taken with his<br />
Hot Curl boards and will definitely get back up there<br />
and give one a go in future when I have more time.<br />
Waipu Cove<br />
On to Waipu Cove, home of this year’s Cove Fish<br />
Fry, and a nice spot to spend some time. Not much<br />
happening in the surf department when I was there,<br />
however The Pizza Barn and Two Fish Cafe<br />
were more than adequate compensations.<br />
