Since 2005 The Board Meeting has raised close to $400,000 for these local families, proving that surfers have big hearts when it comes to helping out those in the community. On Friday July 25th, The Board Meeting will be hosting a "Legends of Surf Long Lunch" at the Alex Surf Club. Guests of honour include surf pioneer Bob McTavish and Australian Surfi ng Hall of Fame inductee Mark Warren. There will also be a number of items to be auctioned including a Morning Of The Earth replica from Mark Pridmore of More Surfboards. Tickets for three-course lunch and 3 hours of free drinks are just $100 per head. To book contact Glenn Corbet on 0410 549 364 or see the website for more: www.theboardmeeting.org.au @smorgasboarder twitter.com/smorgasboarder FAREWELL TO A LEGENDARY WATERMAN We were saddened to hear the news of the passing of Dave Jack man, pio neer waterman from Sydney’s Northern Beaches and uncle to Jay Jackman of Sadhana Surfboards in Christchurch. Revered as a legendary con queror of the Queenscliff Bombora and for his sub se quent big wave exploits on Hawaii’s North Shore, Dave was part of the first Aus tralian team to tour Hawaii. He also had numerous iron man and surf life saving titles to his name - even a qualification to the Munich Olympics for kayak ing. He was in every sense, a true waterman. Dave was also well known as a board builder, boat builder, musician, athlete, movie stunt dou ble, mentor and gen eral good bloke.
