WHAT YOU NEED<br />

• An apprenticeship vacancy in a school as a<br />
Teaching Assistant for a minimum of 30 hours<br />
a week (this will include one day in college per<br />
week). We promote vacancies all year round.<br />

• You must pass an initial assessment in English,<br />
maths & ICT<br />
• You should be at least 16 years old.<br />
• You will have an interview.<br />
• A clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check<br />
at the start of the course.<br />
ABOUT THE COURSE<br />
This apprenticeship can help you develop a career<br />
working in a school as a Teaching Assistant with<br />
0-<strong>19</strong> year olds. You will learn how to support the<br />
development and learning of children and young<br />
people and gain the skills & knowledge needed for<br />
your career. This is also a good starting point if you<br />
want to go on to be a teacher. You need to enjoy<br />
working with children and to have a responsible<br />
attitude and commitment to this type of work.<br />
YOUR FUTURE<br />
After completing an Intermediate Apprenticeship,<br />
you can progress on to an Advanced Apprenticeship<br />
or full-<strong>time</strong> study at college. Alternatively, you can<br />
use the skills and experience you have gained to<br />
progress further in your career.<br />

experience and/or a Level 2 qualification in<br />
Childcare.<br />

maths & ICT.<br />
• You must be 18 years or over.<br />
• You will have an interview.<br />
• A clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check<br />
at the start of the course.<br />
ABOUT THE COURSE<br />
Learn the skills required by a Teaching Assistant,<br />
making sure pupils get the most out of their lessons.<br />
You could help to plan, carry out and evaluate a wide<br />
range of learning activities, working both alongside<br />
the teacher to support classroom activities, and<br />
alone with individuals or groups of students. Some<br />
learning support staff specialise in areas such as<br />
music or special needs. This course will help improve<br />
your employment prospects and enable you to work<br />
in a variety of childcare settings.<br />
Please note, you may be required to take Functional<br />
Skills in English, maths & ICT.<br />
YOUR FUTURE<br />
After your apprenticeship, you can study a course at<br />
college or university, such as a Higher Apprenticeship.<br />
Alternatively, you can use the skills and experience<br />
you have gained to progress further in your career.<br />
