WHAT YOU NEED<br />

• 2 GCSEs at grade 3 (D), to include English. Maths<br />

must be at grade 2 (E) or above.<br />

Or<br />

• a Level 1 at Pass grade, plus a GCSE grade 3 (D) or<br />

above in English.<br />

• You will have an interview and further assessment<br />

to check the course is right for you.<br />

• A keen interest in working in the travel industry.<br />

• You will be invited to a ‘taster’ session to find out<br />

more about the course.<br />

ABOUT THE COURSE<br />

You will develop the skills needed for a career in<br />

the Travel & Tourism Industry. You will learn about<br />

holiday bookings, customer service in hotels, tour<br />

operations and airports. You find out how to research<br />

and market tourist destinations. You also go on<br />

visits to a range of organisations to see how a travel<br />

related business is run on a day-to-day basis and<br />

gain vital work experience to help prepare you for<br />

future employment.<br />

Study visits and residentials form an integral part of<br />

this course and you may be required to contribute<br />

towards the cost. You are encouraged to consider<br />

fundraising initiatives to help cover these costs.<br />

YOUR FUTURE<br />

After successfully completing this course, you can<br />

move on to the Travel & Tourism BTEC Level 3, or<br />

use the skills and experience you have gained to find<br />

employment in the Travel & Tourism industry.<br />

WHAT YOU NEED<br />

• 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English<br />

& maths. If you do not have grade 4 (C) or above in both<br />

subjects the minimum for the other subject is grade 3 (D).<br />

Or<br />

a full Level 2 at Pass grade or above.* * Students with<br />

grade 3 (D) in either English or maths will be expected to re-take<br />

that subject in Year 1.<br />

plans for a career in this industry.<br />

ABOUT THE COURSE<br />

You learn about worldwide destinations, customer<br />

service, holiday representatives and retail/business<br />

travel. Take advantage of the unique opportunity<br />

to go on a week-long trip overseas. Students have<br />

previously travelled out to the Costa del Sol to work<br />

in the ‘First Choice’ Holiday Village. This first-hand<br />

experience shows what it is like to work in a resort by<br />

shadowing holiday reps, taking part in planning fun<br />

activities and visiting hotels, resorts and airports.<br />

In addition, you complete further work experience to<br />

give you a vital taste of careers in this industry.<br />

this course and you may be required to contribute<br />
