WHAT YOU NEED<br />

• 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English<br />

& maths. If you do not have grade 4 (C) or above in both<br />

subjects the minimum for the other subject is grade 3 (D).<br />

Or<br />

A full Level 2 at Pass grade or above with maths &<br />

English grades equivalent to those stated above.*<br />

* Students with grade 3 (D) in either English or maths will be<br />

expected to re-take that subject in year 1.<br />

• A clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check<br />

at the start of the course.<br />

• A keen interest in caring for others.<br />

ABOUT THE COURSE<br />

Gain the skills and experience needed to progress in<br />

to work or Higher Education studying nursing, social<br />

work or paramedical professions.<br />

You will learn how to care for & support individuals<br />

with a variety of needs by studying current research,<br />

principles of safe practice, public health promotion,<br />

sociological & psychological perspectives, supporting<br />

individuals with additional needs and more.<br />

In Year 1, you complete a 100 hour work placement<br />

in a care setting, such as caring for the elderly,<br />

working in the community or caring for children<br />

with special needs.<br />

There will be some externally set assessments as<br />

part of the course.<br />

YOUR FUTURE<br />

After the course, you can study at college or<br />

university at a higher level in Health & Social Care,<br />

or use the skills and experience you have gained to<br />

progress further in your career in the Care industry.<br />
