Iran Ranks Atop In Turkey’s
Crude Oil Imports
Turkey’s crude oil purchasing from Iran raised 142 percent to 7 million
426 thousand tons in the first seven months this year over the same period

In the first seven months this year,
Turkey’s oil purchasing from Iran
raised 142 percent to 7 million 426
thousand tons year on year. So, Iran
ranked atop in Turkey’s oil imports
in this period this year. This country
was followed by Iraq, Saudi Arabia
and Kuwait respectively.
As Turkey’s oil imports decreased
gradually from Iraq, the oil imports
from Iran reached leading position
in the first seven months this year.
This year in the first seven months,
the most oil imports of Turkey
accomplished from 5 countries
as Iran, Iraq, Russia, Saudi Arabia
and Kuwait respectively. Last year
the most crude oil was made from
Iraq. As for this year, Turkey’s crude
oil imports from Iraq plunged 20.5
percent to 4 million 332 thousand
tons this year in January-July. Last
year, Turkey’s crude oil imports from
Iraq was 5 million 453 thousand
tons, according to the data from
Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory
Board.
As for Turkey’s crude oil imports
from Iran increased 142 percent
to 7 million 426 thousand tons in
this period this year. Last year, this
amount was 3 million 64 thousand
tons from this country in Turkey’s
crude oil imports.
The share of Iran in Turkey’s crude
oil imports in the 5 countries from
which Turkey imported mostly
crude oil rose from 23.33 to 50.93
percent in the first 7 months this
year.
In this period, the crude oil imports
from Saudi Arabia were 1 million
143 thousand tons, 1 million 80
thousand tons from Kuwait and
596 thousand tons from Russia.
So Iran raised the country position
from where Turkey imported most
the crude oil by leaving behind
Iraq.
According to the oil report from
Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory
Authority, last year the most crude
oil imports were made from Iraq
with 9 million 251 thousand tons,
this followed by Iran with 6 million
939 thousand tons, Russia with 3
million 234 thousand tons, Kuwait
with 2 million 527 thousand tons
and Saudi Arabia with 2 million 168
thousand tons respectively.
Last year, Turkey’s total crude
oil imports were 24 million 957
thousand tons.
