Version 2 offers more user benefit

has been updated
In response to feedback from
food processors, manufacturers
and packers, Loma Systems
has launched Version 2 of its
TRACS (Trending-Reporting-
Analysis-Capture-Software)
data reporting and analysis
software. Designed to further
reduce manufacturing costs and
improve production efficiencies,
the new graphical network-based
tool monitors the performance
of the company’s full range of
inspection equipment and offers
better functionality, reporting
and overall user experience.
Like its predecessor, Version 2
of TRACS has been developed in
conjunction with long-standing
partner AutoCoding Systems.
It runs over a customer’s factory
network and provides real time
feedback across all lines in a
central format for analysis and
reporting of key measurements
such as giveaway or metal count.

Mondini has launched
a second generation
Platformer machine
that allows customers to
produce their own trays at
much reduced costs than
preformed versions, and from a
range of materials such as rPET
for modified atmosphere and
tray skin sealing applications.
Two models of machine are
currently available: single
lane and twin lane for higher
production speeds.
According to the company,
today’s packaging line
is divided into either
thermoforming or tray sealing
lines but Platformer is billed
as the missing link in this
scenario. “By combining
the Mondini Trave with the
new Platformer, a packaging
line becomes what could be
defined as a thermosealer,
which gives the best of both
worlds,” says Brian Hemsley,
sales director of Mondini in
the UK.

users are free to switch from
thermoformed in-line trays
from a reel or premade trays
The new Platformer machine was first introduced by Mondini at interpack
at any moment, according to
production needs. And this
changeover can be achieved in
less than ten minutes as only
two components need to be
altered each time.
“Platformer is a new way of
tray forming as it cuts the tray
footprint before the forming
process occurs,” continues
Hemsley. “This reduces the
scrap to just 1%.”
Whether using trays mode
in-line, or premade versions,
product can be filled either
automatically or manually.

Accurate feeding solution for the growing

At this year’s Powtech
exhibition, Coperion K-Tron
introduced the next generation
of its accurate pharmaceutical
loss-in-weight feeders.
The new K3-PH line of
feeders has been specifically
designed to meet the
growing demands of
continuous processing in the
pharmaceutical industry.
The new feeder design
features a modular concept
complete with a much reduced
overall footprint thanks to
a new, smaller D4 platform
scale incorporating the
patented and accurate Smart
Force Transducer weighing
technology. The modular
quick change design allows
the easy exchange of feeder
types and sizes as well as
hoppers or agitators using the
same scale and drive for fast
adaptation to new processes
and formulations while also
ensuring easy cleaning and
maintenance.
This new design is ideal
for multi feeder clustering
in a variety of continuous
processes, including direct
compression, continuous
extrusion, wet and dry
granulation, and continuous
coating, as well as traditional
batch processes.
Modifications include quick
change feeder bowl, agitator
and screw combinations
which can be quickly
decoupled from the feeder
drive to provide for easy and
fast changeover and cleaning.
