Labels can be applied
in cost effective ways
Approved Toshiba TEC reseller
Norpak showcased the APLEX4 at
the exhibition, a low cost automatic
label print and application system that
combines high performance and cost
effectiveness.
“As the exclusive UK distributor of
this cutting edge label applicator, we are
perfectly positioned to highlight why it
is suitable for a wide variety of industrial
and manufacturing based environments
thanks to its design, performance
and low cost of ownership,” explains
sales manager at Norpak Gary Day.
“Furthermore, we highlighted how we
have made an exciting innovation to the
product, which will benefit an even wider
range of companies.”
APLEX4 has the
ability to accommodate
in-line operation with
thermal transfer and
direct thermal media,
making it suitable
for even the most
demanding environments.
It can handle production
levels of up to 30 labels
per minute and is available
in resolutions of 200, 300
and 600 dpi.
With an in-built backlit
LCD graphical user interface,
The APLEX4 label applicator
was demonstrated at the show
access to information and settings
is simple and the APLEX4 can be set to
apply labels from the top, bottom or sides
and at any rotation angle required.
In addition, it can seamlessly integrate
into existing legacy systems, without the
need to modify a host system’s hardware
or software.
After consultation with customers,
Norpak has also configured APLEX4
as a semi-automated
system by integrating
a footswitch. Manually
pressing the footswitch
triggers the system to
run through its cycle
– printing a label and
dispensing it to the
vacuum pad, which comes
down and affixes the
label on to the product.
Labels are printed on an
‘as needed’ basis, meaning
that they print one at a
time and a specific job can
be cancelled at any point
in the process.
“This can significantly
reduce the amount of
wastage incurred,”
explains Day.
An extensive range of standard machine
elements met visitor needs at the show
Featured on the Elesa stand were many
products from its extensive range of
machine elements including IP65-7 direct
dial digital position indicators with
electronic mechanism for easy set up
and readout.
These were coupled with the Elesa
wireless spindle positioning system
which enables faster and more reliable
machine set up by use of a wireless
connected profile controller, which
displays the initial set up values on each
of up to 36 electronic position indicators.
The operator can simply choose the
appropriate menu then quickly re-set
each spindle to its correct start position
and the machine is ‘good to go’.
The IP67 CFSW safety switch and hinge
unit was also on display and facilitates
safe operation of access panels and
control equipment.
A wide range of levelling feet are
available from the company that
complement the needs of equipment
manufacturers. Many are in stainless steel
for heavy duty application and special
designs with vibration damping pads to
prolong equipment life or for use in
bio-hazard areas such as food processing
and other hygiene sensitive areas.
