flow wrapping line
able to handle two
quite different but highly
fragile products - each in
different formats - has been
designed and built by Italian
manufacturer PFM for one of
the country’s leading organic
snacks producers.
Based on a single PFM
Falcon four axis, servocontrolled
flow wrapper,
the line is compact and uses
an automatic feeding system
and dynamic sorter to switch
between runs of the two cereal
based snacks: rice bars filled
with cocoa and hazelnuts,
and flat corn crackers.

SIDE-BY SIDE WRAPPING
FOR THE TWIN PACKS
The bars are wrapped side-byside
in twin packs at speeds
up to 200 packs a minute,
while the corn crackers are
handled penny stacked in
three, four, or five sheets
at speeds of 150, 112 and 90
packs a minute respectively.
Product collation and
feeding is carried out via
a dynamic sorter with a
combined race-track conveyor
and upper pusher circuit,
which is automatically
adjustable to the pre-set
configuration for each of
the products. In operation,
a multi-belt conveyor
accelerates each collation
into the wrapper with the
correct spacing.

feeding is now the key to
higher productivity from
wrapping lines,” points out
PFM sales and operations
