The younger you start off playing, the
further you may proceed to an elite level.
We play at the Hornby Domain during
the week and at weekends. We have Full
and Life members as well as Casual and
also Social Members, so come down to the
Hornby Domain for a “roll up”.

Tennis Club
St Albans Tennis Club is looking forward
with anticipation to another summer spent
on the tennis courts. The club is situated in
a quiet suburban setting and has 4 courts
recently repaired following earthquake
damage in 2011. We are a small friendly
social tennis club and welcome players of all
abilities.
The club invites you to our open day on
17th September at 2pm. You are welcome
to come along for a game of tennis and
meet the members, with no obligation to
join. We offer competitive membership
fees and in addition, the club provides four
free group lessons for new members to
gain confidence and skills. Mike Nicol, our
resident club coach provides these lessons
and is available for private coaching also.

Dragon boating
“Dragon boating is a sport suitable for anyone, no matter
what your ability or age – from 12 to 112, you can enjoy this
sport.
Join a team and enjoy the fun and camaraderie of dragon
boating. We will match you to a team to suit your lifestyle and
ability.
Christchurch teams are among the best in the country,
with school girls’ and a breast cancer team currently National
Champions. None of these paddlers started off expecting
to rise to these lofty heights – they achieved success from
the foundations of building a team dedicated to training,
teamwork and camaraderie.
Regattas run from October to April with a highlight being
the Le Mans starts at Super 12 racing in Akaroa. This event
is a huge amount of fun, always in excellent weather at the
end of January with the many holiday makers soaking up
the energy, enjoying the noise and watching the pageantry
of the dragons heads, tails and
vigorous drumming out on the
water.
Dragon boating is on the path
to become an Olympic sport. So
now is a great time to become
involved – who knows, you
could be a NZ representative
athlete.”
