THANK YOU
to everyone
for a great rolleston 150th!
Rolleston’s 150th committee
had their first meeting
in May this year where
concern was expressed, that
there was insufficient time to
organise celebrations.
The positivity, energy and hard
work of this group and other
enthusiastic locals, along with
generous sponsorship from local
businesses, made Rolleston’s
150th celebrations a great
success.
While the weather was out of
the control of the capable people
involved, with preparations
carried out in rainy conditions,
a warm sunny weekend ensued,
adding the final touch to a great
Rolleston Show, CultureFest and
Grand Parade, delighting all
who attended.
This event has confirmed
Rolleston’s identity as a place of
agriculture, transport hub, and
entrepreneurial spirit, supported
by a military base and diverse
multi-cultural community.
Above all, Rolleston was and
still identifies itself as a railway
town and a strong feeling is
emerging that its history and
that of the wider district, should
be captured and preserved.
A huge and humble thank you
is expressed from the committee
chairman to the people of
Rolleston, for supporting this
significant Rolleston birthday.
The community’s generosity
has been overwhelming in time,
money, goods and discounts.
