Keeping warm with the The Jeollabuk-do Center for International Affairs is finishing off another eventful year with a bang and getting ready for 2018. For more information and details on how to get involved, keep an eye on the center’ website at jbcia.or.kr. Moving to Sinsigaji The center is getting ready to move its office from Palbokdong to Sinsigaji in mid- December. This new central location will be more convenient for all visitors as the new part of the city boasts various office buildings, restaurants, and places to enjoy free time. The close proximity to the provincial government building also means less commuting time in between meetings, leading to an increase in overall productivity. Apart from its new convenient location, the center will also have an international exchange lounge open to the public. Visitors here can relax, learn about Jeollabuk-do and other countries, and also carry out their own international exchange activities. You can find us at the 5th floor at hyojadong 3ga 1525-2 in Jeonju. Meeting the New Chief Director of the Center Mr. Yeongho Lee, ex-diplomat at the South Korean embassy in Yemen, was recently appointed as the new Chief Director of the JBCIA. Before officially joining the center on December 5th, Mr. Lee held public office as vice-consul general in Hong Kong, Consul general in Beijing, and South Korean ambassador to Yemen. Under his leadership, the center hopes to reach a new phase in the internationalization of Jeollabuk-do.
Students from the Jimmy Carter School of International Studies of CBNU volunteering in Dak Lak Province. 1.Jeonbuk-Dak Lak Province Cooperation Agreement Jeonbuk and Dak Lak Province in Vietnam signed a friendship agreement on December 20th. As shown with the Jeollabuk-do/Dak Lak Province Friendship Village project, the JBCIA is looking forward to assist Jeonbuk’s aid efforts and help pave the way for future economic cooperation. Both regions are expected to increase mutual cooperation and exchanges in various fields in the coming years. Traditional Food Experience in Sunchang On Thursday November 23rd, a group of international students visited Sunchang’s famous Gochujang Village with the support of the JBCIA. The students were able to learn firsthand about bibimbap, Korean fermentation jars, and Gochujang. The center hopes that the activity contributes to the students’ understanding of Jeonbuk’s regional culture. 3
