MTH 103 Applied Technical Mathematics I (3 Cr)<br />

Presents a review of arithmetic, elements of algebra,<br />

geometry, and trigonometry. Directs applications to<br />

specialty areas. Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisites:<br />

demonstrated proficiency on the placement examination<br />

or successful completion of MTE 1,2,3.<br />

MTH 120 Introduction to Mathematics (3 Cr)<br />

Introduces number systems, logic, basic algebra, and<br />

descriptive statistics. Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisites:<br />

demonstrated proficiency on the placement<br />

examination or successful completion of ENF 1 or ENF<br />

2, MTE 1,2,3. (Intended for occupational/technical<br />

programs.)<br />

MTH 141 Business Mathematics I<br />

(3 Cr)<br />

Provides instruction, review, and drill in percentage, cash<br />

and trade discounts, mark-up, payroll, sales, property and<br />

other taxes, simple and compound interest, bank<br />

discounts, loans, investments, and annuities. Part I of II.<br />

Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisites: demonstrated<br />

proficiency on the placement examination or successful<br />

completion of ENF 1 or ENF 2, MTE 1,2,3.<br />

MTH 151 Mathematics for the Liberal Arts I (3 Cr)<br />

Presents topics in sets, logic, numeration systems, geometric<br />

systems, and elementary computer concepts.<br />

Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisites: demonstrated<br />

proficiency on the placement examination or successful<br />

completion of ENF 1 or ENF 2, MTE 1,2,3,4,5.<br />

MTH 152 Mathematics for the Liberal Arts II (3 Cr)<br />

Presents topics in functions, combinations, probability,<br />

statistics and algebraic systems. Lecture 3 hours per<br />

week. Prerequisites: demonstrated proficiency on the<br />

placement examination or successful completion of ENF<br />

1 or ENF 2, MTE 1,2,3,4,5.<br />

MTH 163 Precalculus I<br />

(3 Cr)<br />

Presents college algebra, matrices, and algebraic, exponential,<br />

and logarithmic functions. Lecture 3 hours per<br />

week. Prerequisites: demonstrated proficiency on the<br />

placement examination or successful completion of ENF<br />

1 or ENF 2, MTE 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.<br />

MTH 164 Precalculus II<br />

(3 Cr)<br />

Presents trigonometry, analytic geometry, and sequences<br />

and series. Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisite:<br />

MTH 163.<br />

MTH 168 Precalculus II with Introductory Calculus<br />

(3 Cr)<br />

Presents trigonometric functions, analytic geometry,<br />

limits, continuity, and an introduction to the derivative.<br />

Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisite: MTH 163 or<br />

equivalent. (Credit will not be awarded for both MTH<br />

164 and MTH 168.)<br />

MTH 175 Calculus of One Variable I (3 Cr)<br />

Presents differential calculus of one variable including<br />

the theory of limits, derivatives, differentials, antiderivatives<br />

and applications to algebraic and transcendental<br />

functions. Designed for mathematical, physical, and engineering<br />

science programs. Lecture 3 hours per week.<br />

Prerequisites: demonstrated proficiency on the placement<br />

examination or successful completion of ENF 1 or ENF<br />

2, MTE 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. (Credit will not be awarded for<br />

more than one of MTH 173, MTH 175, or MTH 273.)<br />

MTH 176 Calculus of One Variable II (3 Cr)<br />

Continues the study of integral calculus of one variable<br />

including indefinite integral, definite integral and methods<br />

of integration with applications to algebraic and<br />

transcendental functions. Designed for mathematical,<br />

physical, and engineering science programs. Lecture 3<br />

hours per week. Prerequisite: MTH 175. (Credit will not<br />

be awarded for more than one of MTH 174, MTH<br />

176, or MTH 274.)<br />

MTH 241 Statistics I<br />

(3 Cr)<br />

Covers descriptive statistics, elementary probability,<br />

probability distributions, estimation, and hypothesis testing.<br />

Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisites: a placement<br />

recommendation for MTH 241, and successful completion<br />

of MTH 163 or MTH 166 or equivalent. (Credit will<br />

not be awarded for both MTH 240 and MTH 241.)<br />

MTH 242 Statistics II<br />

(3 Cr)<br />

Continues the study of estimation and hypothesis testing<br />

with emphasis on correlation and regression, analysis<br />

of variance, chi-square tests, and non-parametric<br />

methods. Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisite: MTH<br />

241 or equivalent.<br />

MTH 273 Calculus I<br />

(4 Cr)<br />

Presents topics in differential calculus of one variable<br />

including the theory of limits, derivatives, differentials,<br />

definite and indefinite integrals and applications to algebraic<br />

and transcendental functions. Designed for mathematical,<br />

physical, and engineering science programs.<br />

Lecture 4 hours per week. Prerequisites: demonstrated<br />

proficiency on the placement examination or successful<br />

completion of ENF 1 or ENF 2, MTH 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.
