Surveys general principles of physics. Includes topics<br />

such as force and motion, energy, heat, sound, light,<br />

electricity and magnetism, and modern physics. Lecture<br />

II of II. Algebra I, algebra II and Prerequisites: demonstrated<br />

proficiency on the placement examination or<br />

POLITICAL SCIENCE<br />

PLS 211-212 U.S. Government I-II<br />

(3 Cr)<br />

Teaches structure, operation, and process of national,<br />

state, and local governments. Includes in-depth study of<br />

the three branches of the government and of public<br />

policy. Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisite: demonstrated<br />

proficiency on the placement examination or<br />

successful completion of ENF 1 or ENF 2.<br />

PNE 161 Nursing in Health Changes I ( 7 Cr)<br />

Focuses on nursing situations and procedures necessary<br />

to assist individuals in meeting special needs related to<br />

human functions. Lecture 4 hours. Laboratory 9 hours.<br />

Total 13 hours per week. Prerequisite: demonstrated<br />

proficiency on the placement examination or successful<br />

completion of ENF 1 or ENF 2 and MTE 1-3<br />

PNE 162 Nursing in Health Changes II (11 Cr)<br />

Continues the focus on nursing situations and procedures<br />

necessary to assist individuals in meeting special<br />

needs related to human functions. Prerequisite: PNE 161<br />

or equivalent. Lecture 6 hours. Laboratory 15 hours.<br />

Total 21 hours per week. Prerequisite: demonstrated<br />

proficiency on the placement examination or successful<br />

completion of ENF 1 or ENF 2 and MTE 1-3.<br />

PNE 163 Nursing in Health Changes III (8 Cr)<br />

Continues the focus on nursing situations and procedures<br />

necessary to assist individuals in meeting special<br />

needs related to human functions. Prerequisite: PNE 162<br />

or equivalent. Lecture 4-5 hours. Laboratory 9 hours.<br />

Total 14 hours per week. Prerequisite: demonstrated<br />

PNE 173 Pharmacology for Practical Nurses (2 Cr)<br />

Studies history, classification, sources, effects, uses and<br />

legalities of drugs. Teaches problem solving skills used<br />

in medication administrations. Emphasizes major drug<br />

classes and specific agents within each class. Lecture 2<br />

hours per week. Prerequisites: demonstrated proficiency<br />

on the placement examination or successful completion<br />

of ENF 1 or ENF 2 and MTE 1-3.<br />

PSYCHOLOGY<br />

PSY 126 Psychology for Business and Industry(3 Cr)<br />

Focuses on the application of psychology to interpersonal<br />

relations and the working environment. Includes<br />

topics such as group dynamics, motivation, employeeemployer<br />

relationship, interpersonal communications.<br />

May include techniques for selection and supervision of<br />

personnel. Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisite: demonstrated<br />

proficiency on the placement examination or<br />

successful completion of ENF 1 or ENF 2.<br />

PSY 200 Principles of Psychology<br />

(3 Cr)<br />

Surveys the basic concept of psychology. Covers the scientific<br />

study of behavior, behavioral research methods and<br />

analysis, and theoretical interpretations. Includes topics<br />

that cover physiological mechanisms, sensation/perception,<br />

motivation, learning, personality, psychopathology,<br />

therapy, and social psychology. Lecture 3 hours per week.<br />

Prerequisite: demonstrated proficiency on the placement<br />

examination or successful completion of ENF 1 or ENF 2.<br />

PSY 205 Personal Conflict and Crisis Management<br />

(2-3 Cr)<br />

Studies the effective recognition and handling of personal<br />

and interpersonal conflicts. Discusses cooperative<br />

roles of public and private agencies, management of<br />

family disturbances, child abuse, rape, suicide, and<br />

related cases. Lecture 2-3 hours per week. Prerequisite:<br />

demonstrated proficiency on the placement examination<br />

or successful completion of ENF 1 or ENF 2.<br />

PSY 215 Abnormal Psychology<br />

(3 Cr)<br />

Explores historical views and current perspectives of abnormal<br />

behavior. Emphasizes major diagnostic categories<br />

and criteria, individual and social factors of maladaptive<br />

behavior, and types of therapy. Includes methods of clinical<br />

assessment and research strategies. Lecture 3 hours<br />

per week. Prerequisite: PSY 200, 201, or 202.<br />

PSY 216 Social Psychology<br />

(3 Cr)<br />

Examines individuals in social contexts, their social roles,<br />

group processes and intergroup relations. Includes topics<br />

such as small group behavior, social behavior, social<br />

cognition, conformity, attitudes, and motivation. Lecture<br />

3 hours per week. Prerequisite: PSY 200.
