Award: Associate of Applied Science<br />
Length: Sixty-four credit hour program<br />
Purpose: The development of business and industry has<br />
resulted in a great demand for qualified personnel in the<br />
area of business management. The associate of applied<br />
science degree in business management is designed primarily<br />
for students seeking full-time employment in the<br />
field immediately upon completion of the program and<br />
for individuals who are presently in industry and seeking<br />
to improve promotion possibilities.<br />
Occupational Objectives: The following occupational<br />
titles represent examples of possible employment<br />

Manager of a Small Business<br />

Administrative or Executive Assistant<br />

Information Services Specialist<br />
Program Description: The curriculum includes technical<br />
courses in business management, general education<br />
and electives. Instruction includes both the theoretical<br />
concepts and practical applications needed for success in<br />
business management. Students are urged to consult their<br />
faculty advisor or a counselor for assistance in planning<br />
their programs and selecting electives. Courses within<br />
this curriculum may be applied to a four-year program at<br />
the discretion of the admitting institution.<br />
Southside Virginia Community College fully supports<br />
Tech Prep linkages with high schools. College programs<br />
are designed to provide a seamless transition between<br />
high school Tech Prep and college technical and engineering<br />
