My mother is incredibly strong. Going through a divorce after 17 years of marriage with two small and confused children tested her strength in the greatest time of adversity. Through it all, my mom remained resilient. Any questions my brother and I had, she answered with honesty. She made sure not to make the divorce about us, something I will be forever appreciative of. Although times were hard, my mother made sure she was our rock in the rushing chaos of our “new normal.” Kind, helpful, adventurous, loving, strong. All of these traits that my mother possesses has shaped me into the young adult I am today. So, even though this is not a birthday card, thank you for everything you do for me, Mom. I love you. Bailey Cook, 18 Alexander Ridge The first main reason my mom is the best is that she is strict and hard on me. While some might hate this, I actually like it. It makes me do my very best. For example, I was working on this project for my specialgifted class just to get it over with. It actually wasn’t good at all. When I am putting it away, my mom asked me to show it to her. She took one quick glance and told me to redo it and take my time. She emphasized take my time. I redid it, took my time and gave it back to my mom to check. She read it over and approved. This is how my mom being strict helped my grades. My mom is friendly, funny and fun (the three f’s). She can be the three f’s everywhere, even when she’s strict. Sometimes during the day, she will make a joke. She’s friendly, funny and fun when she’s using the three f’s. My mom is the best, especially when she is strict and uses the three f’s. Peter Kinakin, 10 Windsor Landing There is no stronger bond than the love of a mother for her child. I am blessed with an amazing, loving mother. She is one of a kind. Coming from a strong line of women, my mom has taught me to be independent. She is my role model, superhero, best friend and inspiration. My mom is a selfless person. She wanted the best life for her kids, so she moved to the United States. Without having to tell her, my mom knows when I am in need of a hug or am just having a bad day. She is always understanding and making sure I am OK. My mom is my best friend. There is no one who can make me laugh more than her. She knows how to put a smile on my face and brighten my days. There were times when my volleyball tournaments took a whole day. Most of them were in Tampa, so she could not drive back home. Even though she had other things to do, she still came and supported me. She is supportive of everything I do and always looking for the best option. There is nothing I would change about her. She is perfect in my eyes and always will be. She is irreplaceable. My love for her is endless. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! She supports my roller derby team, is the leader of my Girl Scout troop, and spends so much time on home-school for me. She drives out of her way to take me to places for my enjoyment, from Tampa to Daytona and everywhere in between.
