On Saturday 19 th May, SWFU Under 7 Rangers became the
first team from the club to play at Roots Hall, home of
Southend United.

Team coaches Dave and Nige feel it’s a great achievement to
go to an event like this and go unbeaten all day and without
conceding a single goal in normal time. Also, their calmness
during a nail biting shootout finale was incredible for 6/7 year
olds.

On arrival the boys checked in, looking the part in their Joe’s
Carpets sponsored tracksuits, and shortly afterwards were
announced onto the pitch individually as they came out of
the tunnel to the ‘roar’ of the crowd.
The 7 aside tournament was a different format to the 5 aside
they usually play. The teams were split into two groups with
Rangers securing third in the group stage with three 0-0
draws and a 1-0 win. They then went into a play-off against
the 3 rd place in the other group to decide 5 th /6 th place. The
game ended 0-0 so went to a penalty shootout which the
Rangers won 3-2.

Section - competition results
On Monday 21st May we held our guest day when we
were able to welcome guests from a number of different
local clubs. The format of the day was a 4 ball better ball
competition and the results were:-
Winners Caroline Crispin and Sue Sande 43 points
( on countback)
Runners Up Sharon Warrington and Pat Drew 43 points

Everyone had a very good day with refreshments at the
mid way point and followed by a meal and prizegiving in
the Clubhouse.
