The people of Cuba and of the Philippine
Islands were oppressed for precisely the same
reasons that the Jews of Spain were oppressed so
many years ago. As a result of the first
persecutions, the Jews left, and were driven out of
Spain. But as a result of the second, the Spanish
were driven out of the Philippines, and out of
Cuba; for in this latter time the cup of her iniquity
was full and her punishment was decreed from
above.
