OVER TO YOU.....
WHY IS IT NOT DONE?
Dear Ed,
As I walk my dogs around the town I was noticing how bad the grass
verges were looking , very overgrown and many knee high weeds. I then
noticed that certain roads had been mowed and very nice too but the
main roads which actually run through the town have only just been
done and by someone wearing a blindfold!!! It looks like they have used
a pair of nail scissors and left ALL weeds growing round lamp posts. It
really does make the town look tatty and unkempt. This is not about
how much something costs , this is about doing a job better than it’s
been done!!
Kind regards, SWF resident
A BIG THANK YOU
Dear Focus
A big thankyou to the person that found my car keys in Celeborn Street
and returned them via the postbox, as per key tag, they arrived a couple
of days later.
Brenda
THANK YOU
A big thank you to the staff working in the Tattoo shop in Guild way
who came to my rescue when I tripped and fell just past their shop door
on Friday 8th June, they took me in, tended to my grazed hand and even
checked on me later at St John’s charity shop, where I volunteer....Linda
THANK YOU
We are delighted to
announce that we
have raised £2251 for
Muscular Dystrophy
UK - research into
Duchenne Muscular
Dystrophy. Huge
thank you to both our
runners Malc Taylor
and Liz Lawrence,
Malc smashed his
target of time and
sadly Liz didn’t run
due to injury but all
money raised still went to MD UK ! massive effort from both
on fund raising and training ! Thank you. x
Also hugely proud to announce that we have in the past year
raised £1265.91 for Little Havens Hospice for children, we love
this place and will always support them alongside Georgie and
many other charities close to our hearts.
LOCAL BUS SERVICES
I am like many people in the town in that I have no choice but to uses the
local bus services whenever I want to go out to do any major shopping
etc. I have spoken to many other people about our local services, in
particular the Service 36 to Chelmsford, and many of then agree with
me that the services are not very satisfactory.
Many of the buses are late running despite the statement from First
Buses that they are operating a "Revised . . . timetable to improve
punctuality." Despite this claim there are still many buses that are late
often because the drivers do not turn up on time or because some parts
of the timetables are so inaccurate. In addition to that there seems to
be an increase in the number of buses that do not operate at all.
During the period of the last week in March and the beginning of April
for instance I personally experienced 3 buses that failed to operate at all
and another 2 that could not complete their journeys.
To bring this up to date I can quote several instances more recently
where buses failed to operate;
Monday 4th June
12.22 service SWF to Chelmsford did not operate
17:25 service Chelmsford to SWF did not operate and nor did the 17:55.
It is also possible that the 16:55 service to SWF did not operate either.
Wednesday 6th June
09:19 service 36 SWF to Chelmsford did not operate.
12:42 service 36 departed to SWF - extremely late.
11:20 service from Chelmsford to SWF did not depart until 11:39 because
of overheating problems but this bus only managed to get to the Griffin
in Danbury before it broke down again with the same problem. The
next bus was then 10 minutes late. This bus arrived in SWF at 12:52
where a waiting passenger said that she had been waiting for an hour
so it seemed that the 12:22 from SWF did not operate.
So to sum up this week's performance it seems that 5 or 6 buses either
did not operate at all or were so badly affected by mechanical problems
that they were non operational.
I can also highlight another major failure on the part of First Buses and
that is their failure to advise passengers in advance about road closures
and bus diversions. They will claim that they post their information on
their website but they do not understand that many people do not have
internet access at home and when they do they do not keep looking on
line for information. First should post advance warning notices on bus
stops but they make no attempt to do this. In fact, after talking to some
drivers I do not think that the managers even advise their drivers
properly.
