The Professional Aviation Board of Certification
(PABC) is an independent,
non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation dedicated
to ensuring the preparedness of
pilots to enter initial training for business
and commercial flight operations through
a variety of research, education and
assessment activities. Stakeholders from
across the industry will help create the
PABC examinations used to determine the
candidate pilots’ cognitive capabilities;
tests that meet the rigorous ANSI / ISO
standards used by other highly respected

professions. PABC’s testing standards will
also enable aviation educators to keep
their courses up-to-date with changes in
the industry. PABC certification will provide
employers and pilots with independent
verification of an applicant’s knowledge,
currency, dedication and initiative. Ultimately,
PABC raises aviation education and
pilot performance standards, enhances
public safety and reduces the cost of flight
operations and training.

UND Aerospace, which includes the John
D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences
at the University of North Dakota and the
UND Aerospace Foundation, is an international
leader in collegiate and contract
aviation education and training services
flying over 110,000 hours in over 120
aircraft in five states. With more than
2,100 students from throughout the world,
the Odegard School offers a complete
range of undergraduate and graduate
programs in five different academic departments,
including an on-line Master’s
degree in aviation. UND Aerospace also
offers aviation physiology training in its
own altitude chamber and helicopter
training, degree and contract training
programs in air traffic control, operates the
AeroSpace Network providing live satellite
and internet-delivered courses to other
universities, private industry and government
agencies, and is a developer of
computer-based training software.
