UNDER-9S FOLLOWING THEIR MATCH
AGAINST BLEDLOW RIDGE.
heartening to see some of our ‘older’ youngsters
(15+) joining in with the Coaching themselves
– passing on their own experiences from the last
7-8 years, learning more about the game and
racking up some important DofE points too!
All in all, a very satisfying start to the season
for the Club for many reasons.
As ever, the Club is also busy off the field
ensuring it continues to thrive in an era of
competing leisure-pursuits and ever-increasing
costs associated with the upkeep of the Ground
and facilities. Our pre-season Quiz Night was
hugely enjoyable. Please look out for other
cricket-related community events during the
summer. These will include:
- Evening T20 Cup matches (dates TBC)
- Six-a-side day on 27th August
To keep up-to-date with news of these events
and on all fixture details follow us on Twitter/
Facebook at the addresses shown below.
To continue to invest in the club and provide
the best possible experience for local players,
young and old, we are looking for sponsors. If
you are interested in anything from branding
our match-shirt or advertising at matches, to
using the ground for a company event or the
opportunity to promote your business to the
350-strong membership, please get in touch
with Jon Cockcroft at jrcockcroft@gmail.com.
If you are interested in playing cricket
yourself or on behalf of your sons or daughters,
you can get in touch with either Matt Lance at
lancey5@hotmail.com (Seniors) or ptgcccolts@
gmail.com (juniors).
As with any village club or society, our
success relies heavily on the hard work of all the
volunteers who make everything run smoothly.
There is always more that we want to do and it
is impossible to have too many volunteers so if
you want to join the fun and help in any way
(maybe as a match-scorer or umpire), we would
be delighted to hear from you and you will
receive a warm welcome from everyone
involved with the Club. Jon Wilson, ptgcccolts@
P&TG Football Club
On the pitch the season has now drawn to a
close, and for the senior section there wasn’t the
glut of trophies like previous years but still a
success. The first team finished 3rd unable to
retain the league, but still a great achievement
with the league title going down to the last few
games, while the Reserves unfortunately went
down 2-1 in the B& B cup final. As you read
this they are probably still playing league games
as fixture backlogs left 10 games to play in 2
weeks.. crazy. The junior section continues to
develop well and a notable cup win for the U12s
at Thame Stadium against AFC Lightning
This year’s Festival of Football Tournament
held at Sir William Ramsay School was yet
another success. The tournament director for the
2018 Festival of Football, Mike Burch and all
his hardworking helpers behind the scene
certainly pulled it off. It was a fantastic event
with even the weather playing ball this year
where sun cream and ice cream made a rare
appearance! The main thing of course is that all
the young footballers had a great time and by
the looks of it that was certainly the case.
A big thank you to all the clubs who entered
their teams thus supporting this annual event.
This also applies to all the parents, grandparents
and all the other supporters to cheer on the
players. Without any of this we would not have
a tournament. A special thanks to Sir William
Ramsey school for hosting us, we are already
looking forward to next year. James Keating
